With my mother's side of the family residing in Savannah, we sometimes have to make trips down there. On this particular weekend, we both took off work to be by the side of my great aunt and the rest of the family. My great aunt had been rushed to the hospital. Despite how bad she was in shape when we first made it there, by the end of the week she was alert and talking mess like nothing ever happened.

On the morning of our departure, I decided to take my mother to brunch at her favorite place (that I put her on to). A quaint little spot called Café M. It's located at 128 East Bay Street in historic downtown Savannah. This authentic French Bakery ceases to amaze us every time we step through the door. Everything on their menu is made fresh to order, while their pastries are made around the clock. Their menu offers a variety of croissants, baguettes, coffees, and teas.

We ordered at the counter and chose one of the little tables that were available. After picking a seat, we waited for our food to be brought to us. On this particular morning I decided to have an orange juice, while my mother decided to try an iced white ginger pear tea. She was in love! I personally do not like tea (unless it's Panera Bread's green tea). We also decided to order some macaroons. She never had them before, so I wanted her to try. We picked coffee and raspberry.

After waiting no more than ten minutes, our food was brought out. We both ordered warm croissant melts that included: mozzarella, sundried tomatoes, and basil pesto. They usually include a seasonal side which for this visit was blue corn tortilla chips and grapes. It all comes together so well and the portions are honestly just right. The croissants were so flakey and melted in our mouths. The chips and grapes complemented one another with their sweet and salty tastes. Of course we cleaned our plates. The waitress promptly removed our plates, so that we were left with our dessert. The coffee macaroons were delightful, but the raspberry one did not sit right with us at all. It had a raspberry jam filling, in which I was not a big fan of. Other than that, we were left full and happy. I would recommend this to anyone that goes to Savannah ten times over.

Last year around February I ordered the same croissant, and it came with a side salad and veggie chips. I also had their marvelous candied almond crusted croissant for dessert. Last but certainly not least, their almonette cookies which I have had all but one time. They were pretty expensive but were so worth it. Due to a low demand, they have not made them since.
